Zachary Valdez is the Regional Safety Manager for MYR Group, Inc. He currently oversees MYR’s Commercial & Industrial division, which covers nine offices and five states in the Western U.S., and includes approximately 1,600 I.B.E.W. crew. In his 33 years of industry experience, Zach has served in roles ranging from electrician apprentice to general foreman with I.B.E.W. Local 68, and has held safety management roles for Sturgeon Electric and MYR Group over the last decade. During his tenure as Safety Manager, Sturgeon Electric’s C&I division has achieved world-class safety performance, thanks in large part to Zach’s passionate approach to employee leadership, education, management accountability and involvement, hazard prevention and control, and Safety and Health training. His credentials include multiple certifications from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, including: Safety Management Specialist, Occupational Hygiene & Safety Tech, Construction Health and Safety Tech and Safety Trained Supervisor in Construction. Zach also serves as Special Government Employee and member of the Board of Directors for OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program Partnership Association, Region VIII.
