Anita Schiflett is married and has three kids and four grandchildren; her youngest child is in high school and is going to be the next JJ Watt. She started her federal career at the General Service Administration -Federal Supply Service as a contracting officer. During her career with GSA, she received a commendable service award in 1994 and a Peer Recognition award in 1996. After 10 years with the agency she transferred to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in May of 1998. Anita started as the Administrative Assistant for the Houston North Area Office. In July 2006, she was accepted into the Career Enhancement Program for upward mobility and became a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in 2006. She has performed 795 inspections, with 24 of those being fatalities. Anita received a Special Act Reward in 2006, for her work during the Hurricane Rita Catastrophe, The Secretary Honors Award in 2012 and a Litigation Award in 2015. Anita graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management in November of 2008. She has 32 years of federal service and counting. Anita’s fun time is playing with her grandchildren, volunteering at her church, hanging out with friends and family at her farm in Katy, Texas.
