Dr. Karen Hardy is the Director of Risk Management and Deputy CRO for the Department of Commerce. She is responsible for implementing and providing oversight of the Department’s integration of ERM into budget, strategy, program management, business operations and decision-making processes. She served as a Senior Advisor to the U.S. Controller at OMB in shaping risk management policy (A123, A-11) with government-wide impact. She recently served on the COSO Advisory Council for revising the COSO ERM framework. She is also a best-selling and award winning textbook author on the subject of ERM. Prior to her public service career, she spent several years in the banking industry
