Thomas is a 15 year firefighter/EMT-B with Fort Lee Fire & Emergency Services. He started as a volunteer at Namozine Fire & EMS in Dinwiddie County at the age of 16. He served in Iraq with the Virginia Army National Guard in 2007 as a Lead Vehicle Commander of the Motor Transportation Company and was a trained Combat Life Saver (TCCC). While employed at Fort Lee, Thomas has served on the technical rescue team, hazmat team and recently assisted in developing the TCCC/TECC guidelines for his division related to active assailant incidents. He has conducted extensive research used for the purchase of body armor.
