Senior Director Sales and Customer Experience
Los Angeles Philharmonic

Senior Director, Sales and Customer Experience at the Los Angeles Philharmonic, oversees all aspects of customer service including retail and sales operations as well as marketing research and audience strategy for The Ford, Walt Disney Concert Hall and Hollywood Bowl. In his time with the LA Phil, sales have grown in part through his successful efforts to redefine pricing, package offerings and expanded sales channels and experience. Carter has also implemented new systems that have helped streamline processes, clarified internal communication, and improved the overall customer service reputation of the LA Phil. Previously, Carter was Ticket Sales Director at Center Theatre Group (CTG - Mark Taper Forum, Ahmanson Theatre and Kirk Douglas Theatre). He joined CTG in 1990 and was promoted into strategic positions as the organization grew and prospered. He particularly engaged CTG into transforming its various sales departments into a structured and interactive operation, ensuring a better level of communication and customer service. Because of these changes, in 2006 CTG received the Outstanding Box Office Award. Carter just concluded six years on the Tessitura Network Board of Directors, including the past two years as Chair. Previously, he was on the INTIX Board of Directors for 11 years, including 5 years on the Executive Committee in various roles. In 2015, he was awarded INTIX’s highest honor, the Patricia Spira Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also been a member of multiple boards within the Los Angeles arts community. He taught the course “Promotion in the Performing Arts” at USC for four years. Before his years in the arts, Carter was an executive with Macy’s New York. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Miami University.
