Mark is 25 year veteran of the Baltimore City (MD) Fire Department and currently serves as a deputy chief of EMS. A nationally registered paramedic, he oversees one of the busiest EMS systems in the country. Mark was instrumental in implementing and managing the EMS response during the Baltimore uprisings of 2015. During his tenure overseeing the EMS Division, he has utilized department data to implement innovative reforms such as creating two way communications with local emergency departments, leading the Department’s transition to a two-tiered EMS response system, and creating a multi-agency collaboration to train all Baltimore citizens in hands-only CPR.
