Erin Sutton




Erin is the director of emergency management for the City of Virginia Beach (VA). She received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Radford University and master’s degree in microbiology and immunology from Wright State University. She has been in emergency planning and management for the last 13 years and has been with the Virginia Beach since 2011. Her responsibilities involve managing the City’s emergency operations plan; coordinating exercises and planning for special events; managing the emergency operations center during activations; and advocating comprehensive emergency management programs for the City. Prior to employment with the City, Erin worked for the Virginia Beach Health Department as the emergency planner and later as the environmental health manager. She received her certified emergency manager designation in 2012 and her project management professional certification in 2008.
