Dan Dillon




Beginning his career in public safety in Virginia Beach while still in high school, Chief Dillon served as an ocean life guard for Virginia Beach Life Saving Service. He continued his service to his community while attending college by volunteering with the Hampden Sydney Volunteer Fire Department, the Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad, and later serving as the Assistant Chief of Operations for the Farmville Volunteer Department. A 32-year veteran of the fire service and a national registered paramedic for 20 years, he chose to pursue his passion of fire and EMS as a career, beginning his employment with Chesterfield County Fire and EMS in 2002. He has served in numerous operational assignments as well as holding multiple positions in the department’s support divisions including as a recruit school instructor in the Training and Education Unit and the Deputy Director of EMS in the EMS Division. Dan also spent time as an operational battalion chief and currently serves the department as the Battalion Chief in charge of the Resource Management Division. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College with a degree in political science and history and has earned a master's degree in human resource management from the University of Richmond. Chief Dillon is also a graduate of the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program.
