Patrick Scrogin




Patrick Scrogin was born in Moberly, Missouri in 1978. Growing up on a small farm in mid Missouri, Patrick's father owned and operated an Agricultural Flying Service and so began his passion for flying. Spending all of his time enjoying the outdoors, his love and passion for hunting and conservation also began. On September 11, 2001, Patrick, stepped up to serve his country as an airborne infantry soldier. Upon graduating basic training as a distinguished honor graduate, Patrick was assigned to the 101st airborne division. Proceeding his graduation of airborne and air assault school, Patrick deployed to Iraq for the initial invasion in 2003, serving over 11 months in combat. When he returned, he attended Warrant Officer Candidate School and U.S. Army Flight training to be a Scout Attack Helicopter pilot. Patrick graduated as a distinguished honor graduate of flight school. Then, he was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division 2/6 Cavalry regiment. In 2006, Patrick deployed to Iraq and flew over 230 combat missions. On March 1st 2007 at 2:30AM, his life was forever changed when he was in a catastrophic helicopter crash where he suffered multiple severe injuries and the loss of his left leg. Patrick spent months in recovery to regain as much use of his body as possible. He retired from the Army in February 2008 as a highly decorated CW2 and started his career as an Air Traffic Controller shortly after in 2009. Patrick's ambition and passion for aviation drove him to obtain instructor certifications in helicopters and airplanes. In 2014, Patrick joined the cast of SheepShape, where he was introduced to mountain hunting and it quickly became his new addiction. He has successfully hunted 3 of the 4 North American Sheep and continues to strive for the FNAWS. Patrick resides outside San Antonio, Texas with his fiancé, Sara, and his two daughters Paige and Kaylee. While he is not working, Patrick enjoys volunteering his time, traveling, and hunting as often as he can.
