2018 Virginia Fire + Rescue Conference

Peter Berger




Peter is a 13 year veteran of the fire service and currently serves as a captain/paramedic. He earned his master’s of science from Oklahoma State University in fire and emergency management administration where he wrote a national curriculum for cancer in the fire service that is being adopted at universities and fire officer programs across the country. He has seen too many of his fellow firefighters die from cancer and wants to instill changes that can make a real difference. Peter is dedicated to this subject matter and has spoken nationally to include a recent engagement at the NFPA National Conference in Boston, the New York State Health and Safety Conference, the Indiana Emergency Responders Conference. Peter has been asked by the government of Brazil to speak to the Brazilian fire service.
