Graduate Student
University of Wisconsin-Madison
Stacie Shuler is a graduate student who studies the activity of biosynthetic enzymes associated with starch development in sweet corn. In her four years as a graduate student she has identified the economic function of endosperm mutant combinations that are not currently used in fresh commercial varieties today but have the potential to increase genetic diversity in sweet corn as well as tailor to many consumer preferences. Stacie is in the fourth year of her Ph.D in the Plant Breeding and Plant Genetics program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and plans to graduate in December of 2017. After graduation she plans to pursue a career with Syngenta’s sweet corn division.
