Steve Strawderman




Steve is a retired battalion chief from the Prince William County (VA) Fire and Rescue Department. During his 28 year career, he served in many capacities including firefighter, paramedic, EMS educator, EMS supervisor, station captain, safety captain, planning chief and field battalion chief. During his four years as the planning chief, he served as the department’s public information officer (PIO). Steve was one of the founding members of the National Capital Region Incident Command Team (NCR-IMT) where he later became a qualified Type III All-Hazard Incident Command Team PIO. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Averett College and a master’s degree in human resource management from the University of Richmond. He is also a graduate from the National Fire Academy’s executive fire officer program and is a designated chief fire officer. In retirement, Steve stays busy training and responding with the IMT, consulting and teaching.
