Eugene Gitelman serves as a clinical informatics manager for the Acceleration Lab at the Penn Medicine Center for Health Care Innovation and a hospitalist at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is also an assistant professor of medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine. Eugene’s work focuses on improving the use of technology in clinical settings and developing new tools for providing patient care. Prior to joining the team, he developed several web applications including PennRolodoc, an application that provides real-time on-call information for clinicians. As a resident, Eugene was part of the Health Care Leadership and Quality Improvement Track, and at the VA, he led the implementation of the hospital’s first facility-wide online on-call schedule system. Eugene received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006, where he took several computer science courses before committing to pre-med. He graduated AOA from Washington University in St. Louis in 2011 and completed his residency in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 2014. Eugene learned to build web apps during downtime in residency.
