Rick Potter is the Principal Smart Grid Technology Consultant for Alliant Energy Corporation in Madison, WI. He has 38+ years of experience in the electric and natural gas utility industry while at Alliant Energy, including distribution operations, engineering, substations, metering, distributed generation, and technology systems. Rick lead the implementation of Alliant Energy’s AMI deployment project in Wisconsin involving 460 k electric meters, and 180 k natural gas meters. His current focus is on development and implementation of Alliant's Grid Modernization strategies, leveraging prior and planned investments in smart grid technology solutions. This includes a multi-year project to implement an Advanced Distribution Management System that will provide capabilities critical to Alliant Energy's vision for the Utility of the Future. Rick holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University.
