Charleen Fain-Keslar is the Standards & Quality Control Manager for California Department of General Services Procurement Division responsible for the direct support of major corporate centralized procurement functions including the development of purchasing policy, standards and specifications, quality control and oversight of California’s environmentally preferable purchasing program (EPP). Charleen has over twenty-five 25 years of state service with extensive experience in materials and products testing, product research, chemical hygiene and program management. Her work includes collaborating to advance sustainable purchasing globally; a Governance Committee member for US Environmental Protection Agency’s Eco Label Pilot Program and member of the United Nations 10 year Environmental Programme 2b Working Group for Sustainable Public Procurement. Charleen currently is a member of the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council Strategic Advisory Committee and leads California government’s statewide procurement efforts to track and measure EPP purchases in California’s enterprise resources system. As an iPEC certified coach, she seeks to help others discover their own paths to establishing sustainability programs unique to their organizations procurement operations.
