John Haaf, Risk Management Manager for ACWA/JPIA (Retired) has over 35 years experience as an environmental, health, and safety consultant and instructor. He was with the JPIA from 1999-2016 and managed the loss prevention services to over 300 California water districts provided by the JPIA’s Risk Management staff. A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, John served as a pilot, safety officer, and disaster response planner in the U.S. Air Force. Prior to coming to ACWA/JPIA, he directed the safety program of an international construction company and conducted safety and hazardous material management training for the U.C. Berkeley and the City College of San Francisco extension programs. John holds the Board of Certified Safety Professionals Certified Safety Professional (CSP-Retired) designation and is a Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist I & II.
