Chuck has an extensive background in electric generation and construction as a Project Manager in GRU’s Energy Supply department and was responsible for the development through commissioning of GRU’s South Energy Center (SEC), a facility that employs CHP and microgrid technologies to provide all of the Electrical (normal and essential), Steam and Chilled Water, and Heating Hot Water needs for the UF Health Shands South Campus in Gainesville, FL. Chuck also served as project manager for the SEC capacity expansion to support a doubling of the served hospital footprint and set the stage for future campus expansion. Mr. Heidt holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Florida, has been employed by GRU for 32 years, and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.
