Gary Rackliffe
Vice President, Market Development and Innovation
Hitachi ABB Power Grids
Gary Rackliffe is the VP of Market Development and Innovation for Hitachi ABB Power Grids. Gary has 25+ years of T&D experience, working for ABB in Raleigh the last 19 years. His background includes regional sales and business development, strategic marketing, sales and marketing for operational software systems, and Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) business management. Gary holds BS and ME degrees in Power Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a MBA from Carnegie Mellon. Gary has also attended executive education and leadership programs at Wharton and Duke. He serves on the GridWise Smart Grid Implementation Committee, DistribuTECH Advisory Committee, and NEMA Smart Grid Council. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and an IEEE Senior Member. He co-authored a T&D planning book, and has written several technical papers.
