Born in Austria 1954, Karl J. Pojer studied professional hospitality. He then undertook international training in the USA, with his initial professional positions taking him to New York, Vienna and Paris. From 1980 to 1995, Karl J. Pojer gained experiences by holding senior-level positions in the USA, Germany, Belgium and Portugal in leading hotel groups such as Kempinski or Sheraton Hotels. 1996, Karl J. Pojer joined TUI as Managing Director (speaker) of Robinson Club. Up to 2003 he was the Director of TUI Hotels & Resorts and Divisional Director. The World of TUI currently encompasses 248 hotels. In May 2013, Pojer was appointed CEO of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, managing the luxury and expedition cruise ship operator.
