Gene Umana has been employed as an investigator with the Texas Workforce Commission/ Regulatory Integrity Division for the past two (2) years. His jurisdiction encompasses approximately 25 counties. He conducts inspections and educates employers wherever he has good reason to believe a minor may have been employed within the past 2 years. State law allows TWC to adopt rules regarding employing children. The TWC rules ensure that employment does not interfere with a child's education and does not pose a threat to the child's health, safety or general well-being. Prior to his employment at the Texas Workforce Commission, Umana worked as a Police Officer, Security Manager and in the Hotel / Restaurant industry.
