Sandra D. Bruce is Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Education Office of Inspector General. She has more than 30 years of experience overseeing, managing, and conducting complex audit, inspections, and investigative work. Bruce joined the U.S. Department of Education in 2014 as Deputy Inspector General. Bruce has also worked at the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General, and the Army Audit Agency. She has received numerous awards for her work, including a Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) Award for Excellence and Distinguished Achievement Awards. Bruce is active in the inspector general community, currently serving on the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee and as chair of CIGIE’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Work Group.
