Susan Quam, Executive Vice President, joined WRA in January of 1997. She served as Executive Director of the WRA Education Foundation for her first 15 years, where she worked to promote career opportunities and scholarships within the foodservice industry and provide continuing education programs for restaurateurs. In 2012 she became Executive Vice President, working closely with WRA’s President & CEO to enact the vision of the WRA board of directors and oversee WRA’s government relations, membership, public relations and business development programs. She is one of WRA’s two registered lobbyists. In addition to WRA operations management, her areas of emphasis include food safety, food defense and nutrition regulatory affairs, state/national relations and new program development. She serves on the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection – Division of Food and Recreational Safety - Food Safety Advisory Committee. Susan is also a member of the National Conference for Food Protection (CFP) Managers Training, Testing and Certification Committee and served on Council II at the 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012 CFP Biennial Meetings, representing small restaurant operations. From 2012-2016 She served as Vice-Chair and then Chair of Council II. She was recently selected for membership of Council II for the 2018 Biennial meeting. Before joining the WRA, Susan served as Program Director for the Wisconsin Beef Council. She developed and implemented promotion, nutrition and consumer information programs on behalf of Wisconsin’s cattle producers, through the beef checkoff program. Susan has a nine year old son who keeps her on the run. She hails from a 200 head, family-owned Angus farm in Lodi, Wisconsin, where she and her son house their small herd of Angus cows. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with degrees in Agricultural Journalism-Marketing, and Meat and Animal Science.
