Admitted to the California Bar in 1984, John M. Pacheco began his legal practice at the Law Offices of Rose, Klein & Marias; in 1994 he joined the Law Offices of Garza and Reyes; and in 1995 the Law Office of Garza, Garza & Pacheco. In 2001, John was appointed to serve as a Superior Court Judge in San Bernardino County. His assignments included criminal law in Joshua Tree and in Rancho he presided on an array of cases, from civil, traffic trials, preliminary hearings, family law, guardianship, unlawful detainer, civil harassment and small claims. Since 2011, John has presided in the San Bernardino Civil District, assigned to civil jury trials, bench trials, preliminary hearings and occasional criminal trials. He is currently the Supervising Judge for the Civil Courts in San Bernardino Superior Court. Outside of the courtroom, Judge Pacheco has served the legal community through membership and leadership positions numerous professional and advisory groups, including the Joseph B. Campbell American Inns of Court (President 2008-2009), Inland Empire Latino Lawyers Association Board, the Access and Fairness Advisory Committee for the California Administration of the Courts where he served as Co-Chair of Racial and Ethnic Fairness sub-committee, the State Bar Council on Access and Fairness, the California Interpreters Advisory Panel, the San Bernardino Superior Court Executive Committee representing Rancho Cucamonga/Chino, Joshua Tree & San Bernardino Central Districts, and as the only judge on the Domestic Violence Death Review Team for San Bernardino County. Throughout his career, Judge Pacheco has promoted civility, professionalism and ethics in his courtroom and by teaching Civility Matters through ABOTA.
