Steve Thomas
High Voltage & Interconnection Engineer
Origis Energy USA

Following graduation in 1983 with a BSEE from San Diego State in Power and Control Systems, I started my career with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power where I remained for 15 years while continuing my education receiving an MSEE from USC in High Voltage Technology and Power, followed by an MBA from the University of Redlands. With a background as an electrician, I began at DWP in Commissioning and Test and Start-up; later moved to O&M in HVDC Converter Stations, transitioning back and forth between O&M and commissioning large projects until I left DWP during the “Deregulation” of 1997. I was recruited by ABB and moved to their HVDC/FACTS support group as a field service engineer supporting customers in their troubles. I created my own consulting company, providing field service on-demand for 5 years, to multiple large corporations, before being recruited into the Wind Industry. I started with Padoma Wind Power, later purchased by Enel Green Power, and remained with the wind side of renewables until 2018 when I moved to Origis Energy where the emphasis is on Solar and Energy Storage.
