Charles Shannon
Senior Application Engineer
IMCORP
Charles recently joined the IMCORP team in June of 2018. After operating a 50MW wind farm for 2 years and experiencing his first midspan cable fault in 2008 Charles began to understand how much impact the underground collection system has on project availability. Charles quickly moved to owners engineer where he quickly went to work improving cable reliability with proper cable testing employing IMCORP’s capabilities to detect cable defects created during project construction, operation, and yes even manufacturing. This allowed the defects to be removed, creating reliable cable systems that remain in service for the life of the project. Prior to leaving EDF Renewable Energy last year his final role was as Manager of Quality. Here he influence processes and procedures for evaluating the health of aged cable systems and helped the O&M teams return projects to new cable availability. After a little over 10 years of cable system experience at all stages of wind projects he’ll share a few key points to help you increase your project availability through reliable cables.
