Dr. Amine Chigani joins Sentient Science from General Electric where he was the Chief Architect at GE Current leading the development of an IoT platform and solutions for Intelligent Environments—smart buildings and smart cities. Before his role at GE Current, Amine worked for the CTO offices of GE Transportation, GE Aviation, and GE Global Research building Predix-based Industrial Internet solutions for various GE businesses and their customers. Dr. Chigani is one of the founders of the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) and an original contributor to IIC Reference Architecture. Prior to GE, Dr. Chigani was a Consulting Software Architect at Carnegie Mellon’s Software Engineering Institute supporting FEMA and DHS contracts. He led the development of the integration and adoption strategy for Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS) by emergency alert originators nationwide—the backbone of AMBER and Weather alerts we receive on mobile devices today. Prior to that, Dr. Chigani worked as a computer science adjust faculty at Virginia Tech while leading research in systems of systems architectures for emergency response, situational awareness, and resilience on open campus environments. Dr. Chigani earned a M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Virginia Tech and the Software Architecture Professional Certificate from the Software Engineering Institute. He received his B.S. degree in Computer Science from Radford University. Amine started his career as a software engineer and continues to be an advocate for relevant STEM education to the job market. He currently holds a 3-year seat in ABET’s Industry Advisory Council.
