Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA)


Deborah Curry joined the Florida Institute of CPAs as President/CEO in 2011. She is the FICPA’s fifth CEO in the organization’s 108-year history. Her passion is to create an organizational culture that embraces collaboration and innovation to bring success in an ever-changing environment which requires adaptive responses. Her goal is to create a well-recognized public profile for the FICPA association as the leading organization representing Florida CPAs in the state and across the nation. She challenges CPA organizations to groom their emerging leaders and equip them with leadership and management skills necessary to ensure success. Deborah is engaged in legislative and advocacy efforts representing the CPA profession at the state and national level including serving as a Trustee for Florida TaxWatch and as a panel judge for the Prudential Productivity Awards. Serving as a Chair of the Advocacy Committee for the CPA Society for Association Executives, she collaborates with other society leaders to address regulatory and legislative agendas affecting CPAs across the nation. She is a proud graduate of Leadership Florida Class XXXII and Executive Leadership Program Class VII. Deborah’s accounting career began as an accounts receivable clerk when she was sixteen years old, she then pursued executive management accounting positions in corporations as well as public accounting experience with KPMG. She then joined the Georgia Society of CPAs for six years; serving first as CFO, then as COO. An accounting graduate of Texas A&M University, Deborah’s previous experience also includes finance positions with Turner Broadcasting System and Time Warner. Deborah holds active licenses as a Certified Public Accountant in Florida and Texas. In addition, she holds the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation.
