Marco is the Vice President for Operational Excellence for Power and Water Transmission and Distribution at TAQA, a top 10 integrated utility champion in the EMEA region with power and water and oil and gas operations in 11 countries around the world. Marco has over 31 years of experience in the power and water industry and worked for four utilities, three consulting firms, an EPC contractor, a system integrator, and a product vendor. During his time at the three utilities, Marco moved their digital transformation and smart grid implementation forward, managed smart grid programs, and supported the creation of technical specifications, business processes, and the development of necessary skillsets for digital transformation and smart grid. As a strategy and technical consultant, Marco supported more than seventy-five utilities in more than twenty-four countries with their programs for digital transformation, smart grid, and power and water system automation. Marco furthermore trained hundreds of engineers around the world on digital transformation, smart grids, substation automation, distribution automation, and power system protection. Marco published and presented more than fifty-three papers at conferences and in magazines, co-authored two books on Smart Grids and Power System Engineering, co-authored four Cigré Technical Brochures and as of August 2007, is the columnist of the "I Think" column in the PAC World magazine.
