MGMA Health Care Consulting Group

Christos Georgacopoulos, MHRE, has more than 10 years of experience in transformational leadership roles in the ambulatory care setting with extensive concentration on lean process improvement, practice transformation, PCMH, coordinated care delivery, quality measures, care management, practice management, organizational development, and project management. With over a decade at Advocate Healthcare, Illinois’ largest health system, Christos gained extensive experience integrating the Toyota Production System to the healthcare environment. He facilitated cross-functional teams through a variety of lean events, such as kaizen, value stream analyses, vertical value streams, and 2P (production preparations). This work involved collaborating closely with teams of senior leaders, physicians, front line staff, and other care providers to improve operational effectiveness by not only instilling the lean principles, but also working to embed these principles into the organization’s culture. Christos led initiatives in primary care workflow redesign that resulted in the development of coordinated care delivery systems supporting ACO, increases in quality measures, and the achievement of level 3 PCMH recognition from NCQA for 16 medical practices as well as the first practice in Illinois to achieve Medical Home accreditation by AAAHC. He also facilitated 2P events that ultimately designed plans for a new outpatient campus consisting of 12 specialty and ancillary care departments, and redesigned departments in existing buildings to maximize revenue generating space. Christos holds a Master of Human Resource Education degree from the University Illinois at Urbana- Champaign, as well as a certificate in Project Management in Healthcare from the Harvard School of Public Health.
