Matthew Godlewski is the president of NGVAmerica, the national trade association dedicated to the development of a growing and sustainable market for vehicles powered by natural gas. Godlewski has more than 20 years of experience developing and executing strategic plans, building effective teams and interacting with government officials to shape policy at all levels of government. Before joining NGVAmerica, Godlewski served as vice president of state affairs at the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, a national trade association representing 12 automakers including BMW Group, FCA US, LLC, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Jaguar Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz USA, Mitsubishi Motors, Porsche, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Cars North America. Prior to joining the Alliance, Godlewski served as director of state and federal policy at Pernod Ricard USA, a division of the Paris-based Pernod Ricard spirits and wine company. In that role he led successful efforts to expand consumer access to company products and coordinated state policy channels within the corporation. From 1998 to 2002, Godlewski served in the global external affairs office of Seagram/Universal Studios, where he managed complex state and federal regulatory matters related to beverage alcohol, intellectual property and freedom of speech. Godlewski is a veteran of several political campaigns, and dedicated eight years to public service through various positions in the Michigan legislature, beginning in 1988. From 1996 to 1998, he worked on various financial services, entertainment and beverage alcohol franchise issues at Michigan’s leading public affairs firm. A graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison College, Godlewski holds a bachelor's degree in American Public Affairs.
