Longtime Cookeville High School (TN) Head Coach, Butch Chaffin is a five-time Tennessee District 7-AAA Coach of the Year and three-time Region Coach of the Year. Chaffin has coached over 117 players who have gone on to play college baseball during his tenure. Additionally, he has coached & scouted for USA Baseball. In 2017, Chaffin was named to the 12U National Team coaching staff by USA Baseball. Additionally, he’s worked as a scout for the national team where he got to see the development of current major league stars like Bryce Harper, Mike Trout and Manny Machado. Chaffin was selected the pitching coach for the 2010 18U National Team that included baseball stars Francisco Lindor, Michael Lorenzen, Blake Swihart and Henry Owens. Chaffin has also worked at over 200 baseball camps around the country. Prior to coaching at Cookeville High School, Chaffin worked as an assistant coach at Tennessee Tech for four years. He has scouted professionally for the Kansas City Royals and currently works as an associate for the San Diego Padres.
