David Pierce

David Pierce was named head baseball coach at The University of Texas in June 2016. In his second year with the Longhorns in 2018, Pierce guided the team to a 42-23 record and an NCAA College World Series Appearance. In seven seasons as a head coach at Sam Houston State, Tulane and Texas, Pierce owns a .641 winning percentage and his teams have made seven regional appearances, one super regional appearance and one CWS appearance. Prior to becoming a head coach, Pierce spent 10 seasons with Rice and two at the University of Houston. As an assistant coach, Pierce won a National Championship with the Rice Owls in 2003. Prior to his collegiate career, Pierce coached at St. Pius X High, Episcopal High and J. Frank Dobie High School.
