Ronald Farr




Ron is currently a lead regulatory engineer with the Underwriters Laboratory (UL). He has more than 44 years of fire service experience including Michigan State Fire Marshal and 37 years with the Kalamazoo (MI) Fire Department where he served six years as fire chief. Ron is a member of numerous state and national fire service organizations including the Michigan Fire Chiefs, Michigan Fire Inspectors Society, International Fire Marshals Association and a life member of the NFPA. He serves as the chairman of the NFPA 1730 Committee on Deployment and Organization of Fire Prevention Activities; the Chairman of the NFPA 1300 on Community Risk Reduction Plans; and is a former member of the NFPA Standards Council. Ron is a past president of the International Fire Marshals Association and the recipient of several awards from various fire service organizations.
