From Silicon Valley Scoreboard to the Big House Bleachers: Mike Lorenc's Pivot to Passion After two decades navigating the digital jungle at Google and 25 years in the tech trenches, Mike Lorenc decided to trade free lunches for occasional apples and pivot his game. Ditching the spreadsheets for chalkboards, he left the world of directly helping ticketing, sports, and live events companies with their digital transformations to a new mission: growing the next generation of sports marketing stars at the University of Michigan. At Google, Mike was the quarterback for the Ticketing & Live Events team, ensuring fans scored the smoothest experience from event discovery through ticket purchase to post-game victory lap. Now, he's sharing his playbook (and maybe a few Google playbook doodles) with wide-eyed rookies, molding them into marketing MVPs. But Mike's passion extends beyond the classroom. He's a co-owner of AFC Ann Arbor, proving his commitment to building vibrant sports communities beyond the walls of academia. Whether it's cheering on his team, volunteering with organizations like the American Cancer Society and Help Ukraine Center, or co-founding The Mighty Oak Youth Project, Mike's heart beats for making a positive impact. So, is Mike Lorenc a tech titan turned professor, a community champion, or a sports enthusiast with a side hustle? The answer is: all of the above. He's a living testament to the power of reinvention, a master of pivoting from boardrooms to bleachers, and a true inspiration for anyone looking to score big in life, on and off the field.
