Edward J. Mazur is Senior Advisor for Public Sector Services with CliftonLarsonAllen, LLP. Mr. Mazur served as State Comptroller for the Commonwealth of Virginia between 1980 and 1991, as President of the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers, and Treasurers, and as Trustee of the Virginia Retirement System In late 1991, he was confirmed as the first Controller appointed under the Chief Financial Officers Act of 1990, through which he headed the Office of Federal Financial Management within OMB, and served on the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board. Between 1997 and 2007, he served as a member of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, which establishes accounting and reporting standards for state and local governments. During his career, Mazur also served with the American Institute of CPAs, and in senior financial management positions with Virginia State University and Virginia Commonwealth University. He has received numerous national awards for his contributions to governmental financial management and has authored articles and reports on intergovernmental financial dependency. Mazur has served on the audit advisory committees for GAO and SBA, and on AGA’s Financial Management Standards Board. He is a CPA, holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BS degree from the University of Connecticut.
