Simon Morris joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force straight out of school and entered as a pilot. After a tenure here he went on to build his hours in the civilian flying world, sitting his Commercial Pilot’s License theory, instrument and turbine ratings. Along the way he got distracted and went to University and completed a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Spanish. Partway through his tertiary study, Simon joined the Army and diversified into the Geospatial and Intelligence arena. He served two tours in Afghanistan in support of Special Forces and after 7 years in this role, and another year contracting to the Air Force, he left the military for good. At this time he diversified into forestry as a GIS specialist. Since then, he has built up over 8 years of commercial UAV experience, focused mainly on flying, data processing and analysis. In his current position as COO at ALTUS Intelligence, he oversees all sales and marketing activities, flying and training operations.
