Jerry Byrum is an Aviation Safety Inspector serving as an All Weather Operations Program Manager (AWO) in the FAA Southwest Regional HQ Office in Fort Worth. His Inspector duties include Low Visibility Operations, Obstruction Evaluations/Airport Airspace Analysis, and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) integration into the National Airspace System. Inspector Byrum has BS and MS degrees in Meteorology from The University of Oklahoma. He is a retired US Air Force Lieutenant Colonel having served over 20 years as a pilot –both with the Air Force and Air National Guard. He also served as a pilot with American Airlines for 20 years, retiring as a Captain in 2006. He joined the FAA in 2006 in Seattle, WA. In 2010 he moved to the FAA Southwest Regional HQ in Fort Worth.
