Mr. Jeff Breunig is a Principal at MITRE Corporation with over 25 years of aviation and transportation program management, and strategic planning experience with the FAA, DoD, NASA, and DHS. He provides expertise in the areas of aviation system planning, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) technology development, safety planning, and strategy development. He has worked in the development and implementation of numerous aspects of small UAS (sUAS) operations and technology. He is the Principal Investigator in the development of a risk based approach for the airworthiness of sUAS operations. Additionally, he supports the FAA’s UAS Near Term Implementation Pathfinder program in development of the approach for conducting operations over people. Mr. Breunig is a rated aviator and former USAF Flight Instructor and a licensed Unmanned Aircraft Pilot. He holds a Master’s of Science in Civil Engineering, Advanced Transportation Systems, and an Air Transportation Systems Certification from Virginia Tech University.
