Md Arifujjaman was born in Khulna, Bangladesh on January 12, 1979. He received the B.Sc. Eng. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Khulna, Bangladesh, in 2002, and the M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), St. John’s, NL, Canada, in 2006 and 2010, respectively. During 2010–2011, he was a Post Doctoral Fellow with the Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, NB, Canada. He is a Professional Engineer in Ontario and Newfoundland, Canada. He is currently working as a Senior Engineer with Southern California Edison (SCE), Westminster, CA, USA where he is working on emerging technologies and valuation for effective grid modernization. His primary research area focuses on power conversion and energy storage and serve as a Technical Advisor as well as Subject Matter Expert in multiple DOE funded projects with universities and research organizations. He held a Graduate Supervisor position with Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John’s, NL, Canada. His industrial and research experience in power conversion and energy storage includes research and development at the Renewable Energy Systems (RES), AllCell Technology, UTC Power, where he developed grid tied wind and solar inverters, high-density dc–dc power converters, and digital controllers using DSPs. His research interests include energy storage optimization, power electronics reliability, maximum power point tracking algorithm, and high-performance power converters topologies as applicable for renewable energy systems. He published more than sixty (60) peer reviewed journal and conference papers, two (2) books and his works have been published in numerous prestigious newspapers and magazines.
