Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, Bio & Ag Engineering
Dana Porter, PhD, PE, is a Professor, Extension Agricultural Engineering Specialist -Agricultural Water Management, and Extension Program Leader in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Service at Lubbock. Dana earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Agricultural Engineering at Texas A&M University and her Ph.D. in Agricultural and Biological Engineering at Mississippi State University. Dana’s integrated applied research and extension program emphasizes irrigation technologies and best management practices for efficient irrigation management in water-limited agricultural production systems. In addressing practical concerns of irrigation efficiency and irrigation water quality issues, she draws extensively from her experiences gained working on her family’s farm in the Texas Panhandle and her research in crop modeling, agricultural waste management and utilization, crop water management, and technologies and decision support tools for agricultural irrigation.
