Paul Hayes is a North Carolina State University graduate with a BS in Civil Engineering. Paul is a Professional Engineer in Civil and Fire Protection in over 35 states. Paul has 30+ years of principal engineer experience managing special hazards asset protection fire companies for the industrial and power markets. Industry engagements include NFPA 855 and NFPA 850 Principal Member, Professional Member SFPE, FSSA Board of Directors, EEI board of Directors, ESA Board of Directors, Member of EPRI Safety Council, SME FDNY, UL 9540A STP. Paul has focused interest in leading-edge design & development of detection and suppression systems for Lithium-Ion battery facilities. Paul has extensive federal, state, and local laws and regulations and experience in regulatory agency negotiations. Using his code committee and code development experience, Paul has been comprehensive support in NFPA 855. He is task chair for the rewrite of suppression and explosion technologies for Lithium-Ion ESS for 855. Consultant to ESS companies and Utilities with appropriate mitigation technologies, risk hazard evaluation and application, AHJ education, and design specifications to help define best practices for the industry.
