Joseph J. Tavormina was born in Brooklyn, New York in the U.S.A. on February 18, 1955. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he earned his B.S. degree in 1976, and his M.S. and Mech. Eng. Degrees in 1978. His employment experience includes technology development experience at Scientific-Atlanta, Electromagnetic Sciences, Space Systems/Loral, and QinetiQ North America, and also small company experience as a Founder of four technology startup companies. His special technical fields of interest include radio communication systems, sensors, antennas, and machine-to-machine data networking. Tavormina is a Member of the IEEE.
