Catherine Abernethy has experience counseling diverse clientele, including adults and children, in schools and community agencies. With over twenty-five years of advocacy, she has worked with underserved populations providing volunteer services. Presently she is a counselor educator and a licensed professional counselor beginning private practice. Other relevant experience includes one year of editorial assistantship with a peer-reviewed journal and presentations at the local, state, and national levels. Research interests include trauma-informed therapy, lifespan developmental issues, wellness, play therapy, counselor supervision, and university outreach in communities.
