Battalion Chief/Shift Commander (Retired) C. E. “Gene” Reams served for over 30 years with the Chesterfield, Virginia Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services (CFEMS) in multiple capacities, retiring as a Battalion Chief/Shift Commander. He has recently returned to the CFEMS Division of Fire and Life Safety as an Assistant Fire Marshal. Chief Reams is the president and owner of Gene Reams & Associates, Professional Grant Proposal Writers, providing professional services to a wide-array of public safety and non-profit organizations across Virginia, and multiple states across the southeast. Chief Reams has extensive experience with organizational planning, strategic planning, alternative funding solutions, and writing winning grant proposals. Chief Reams has delivered presentations at multiple professional conferences, is a published author, and co-authored the book “Community Fire Safety Operational Guide” for the Virginia State Firefighters Association. His professional affiliations include memberships in the Virginia State Fire Chief’s Association, The Virginia State Firefighters Association, the Rappahannock Volunteer Fireman’s Association and the Virginia State Fire and EMS Association, Alumni of the Grantsmanship Center, the American Grant Writers Association, and is certified in grant proposal writing by Fort Hayes University.
