Tim Burrie is the manager of fleet and facility maintenance for the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (SDMTS). Burrie is part of the MTS Bus maintenance team that manages a mix fleet of 792 buses, with over 540 buses powered by compressed natural gas. During Burrie’s 36 year tenure at MTS bus he has held multiple progressive positions in the maintenance profession and has witnessed first-hand the renovation of fuels in California, specifically in clean fuels. Burrie has been heavily involved with the integration of MTS’ CNG fueled buses since 1994, when MTS received their first batch of CNG powered buses. While, Burrie is primarily responsible for MTS’ directly operated fleet, in which all but 12 of those buses are CNG, Burrie provides assistance and oversight for the entire MTS fleet including contracted divisions consisting of over 200 buses and the majority being CNG powered buses. Most recently, Burrie is involved in the procurement of up to 400 CNG fueled buses equipped with the Cummins ISLG NZ engines
