Chris Kiergan is a Senior Manager in the Energy & Utilities Practice of West Monroe Partners and is a veteran management consulting professional with 22 years of experience solving key issues for utility clients. For the last ten years, Chris has led projects addressing all aspects of Smart Grid/grid modernization initiatives, including developing modernization strategies, assessing impacts of initiatives on IT/OT systems, planning and conducting Smart Grid deployments (AMI/DA/IT/OT); developing benefit/cost models, and designing the new business processes and required change management plans necessitated by Smart Grid deployments. Chris brings deep expertise in utility operations across the value chain. For the last two years, Chris has focused on real-time networks and OT applications. He has been preparing utilities to protect these assets in response to a cyber-attack by conducting Tabletop and Live Exercises whereby utilities disconnect or isolate their real-time networks from their corporate data networks to definitively validate functionality lost and retained during a period of disconnection. Prior to consulting, Chris spent 10 years in the US Navy as a helicopter pilot. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA from Kellogg at Northwestern University.
