María Virginia Ramírez




Maria Virginia Ramirez is a Chilean Civil Chemical Engineer from the Universidad de Concepción who also holds a Master degree in Engineering Science and Metallurgy from Universidad Católica del Norte in Chile. With broad experience and expertise in service-providing companies for the mining, carbon-chemical and plastic industries, both in Chile and abroad. She has made her own career path by working at the most important companies in Chile and abroad: She started at SASOL INDUSTRIES, SOUTH AFRICA back in 1989 where she worked as Projects and Processes Senior Engineer. In the year 2000 she joined SQM – The Chemical and Mining Chilean Company as Process and Quality Superintendent up to 2013. She then moved to ENAEX SERVICIOS- Chilean leader in explosives mining services and explosives production plants where she currently holds the position of Applied Research Superintendent. At this position, she has been responsible for the design of new explosives products, the development of new raw material providers and the provision of technical support to production plants from Río Loa in Calama and Prillex® America in Mejillones, Antofagasta. During the last 4 years, she has intensively worked in the development of PIREX, a special product for reactive rocks, while in turn, has also developed and led a consulting team for reactive rocks.
