Dean Pedrotti is a retired Captain/Paramedic for the Phoenix Fire Department. In his final years on the Department he was on special assignment extending veterans awareness training to PFD firefighters and first responders across Arizona. Captain Pedrotti has spent much of his 32+ year career detailed to busy mid-town and downtown fire companies in Phoenix. In addition, he has worked as a Hazardous Materials Inspector, EMS Officer, and Technical Rescue Technician, and also served on Arizona Task Force 1, PFD’s Urban Search and Rescue Team. Dean has an M.B.A. from the Graduate School of Management at the University of California at Davis. He has spoken at state and national conferences and written over 40 magazine articles on a wide range of topics for national fire service publications, including infectious diseases, mass casualty, technical rescue, customer service, and firefighter compassion. His article “Heroes to Hometown: When Veterans Come Home” was the cover story in the March 2011 issue of the Journal of Emergency Medical Services. In October 2013, he received the 100 Club of Arizona’s “Firefighter of the Year” for his work to increase first responder awareness of issues surrounding our veteran population and continues his work through the Arizona Coalition for Military Families.
