Dr. Joe Formanek discovered homebrewing during his undergraduate years in Minnesota and has been brewing ever since. He has been a BJCP National judge since 1998 and has held offices in that organization, including national vice president. Joe has won numerous awards and best-of-shows, including Midwest Homebrewer of the Year a record six times, AHA Mead Maker of the Year in 2004, and AHA Ninkasi Award in 2000 and 2006. His Russian imperial stout was distributed nationally in the 2012 Samuel Adams LongShot multipack.
