Jessica Heiges is a Ph.D. candidate in environmental science, policy, and management. Her professional and academic focus is to help systems transition away from single-use disposable items. She was the student lead on the Chou Hall Zero Waste Initiative, which oversaw the process of making Chou Hall (at the Haas School of Business) the first certified platinum-level TRUE Zero Waste academic building in the world. For her Master's thesis, she conducted two pilots at cafes on UC Berkeley's campus to better understand the operational and customer behavior components in incorporating more reusable foodware into their businesses. She has a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bates College and a Master’s degree in development practice, supply chain management and municipal waste management from the University of California at Berkeley’s College of Natural Resources.
